Germs and Bacteria can cause gum problems

Gum diseases are the first signs that indicate that you may be suffering from a bad germ and bacteria attack. If you do not take precautions, chances are dental problems will only progress.

Given below are the various stages of gum disease.

STAGE 1: GINGIVITIS:

The earliest stage of gum disease is called Gingivitis. At this early stage in gum disease, damage can be prevented, since the bone and connective tissue that hold the teeth in place are not yet affected. During this stage, there is an inflammation of the gums caused by plaque build-up at the gum-line. This happens due to lack of daily or regular brushing and flossing, which results in producing toxins that can irritate the gum tissue. Bleeding can also be a symptom during this stage.

STAGE 2: PERIODONTITIS:

This is the 2nd stage of gum disease. At this stage, the supporting bone and fibres that hold your teeth in place are irreversibly damaged. Proper dental treatment and improved home care can usually help prevent further damage. Your gums may begin to form a pocket below the gum line, which traps food and plaque. Before your dental problem reaches this stage, it is wise to visit the dentist in first priority.

STAGE 3: ADVANCED PERIODONTITIS:

This is the 3rd and final stage of gum disease. During this stage, the fibres and bone supporting your teeth are destroyed, which can cause your teeth to shift or loosen. This can affect your bite and, if aggressive treatment can't save them, teeth may need to be removed. Good oral hygiene and regular visits to the dentist can reverse the damage during the very early stages of gum disease. You must raise alert at once if you notice swelling, redness, pain, and bleeding of the gums, foul breath, discoloured teeth, crooked teeth, receding gum line, abscess formation, formation of deep pockets between the gums and teeth, shifting teeth, etc.
